Oh sure, because what we really need in our lives is more emotional trauma from fictional characters. Thanks for that, James Gunn. And as if that wasn't enough, we also get a third round of 80s and 70s tunes to tug at our heartstrings. Because nothing screams "epic space battle" like a good ol' classic rock jam, right? At this rate, I'm surprised they haven't thrown in a rendition of "It's a Small World After All" just to really twist the knife. But hey, who am I to judge? Maybe some people enjoy sobbing uncontrollably in the movie theatre.
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is hitting cinema’s this Summer, (or winter if you’re in the Southern hemisphere..), and at Podcast Assemble - we are stoked! Check out our episode 89 on the movies we're most excited for slated for release in 2023. The final chapter in the Guardians trilogy looks set to be a wild ride of emotions and an apt ending to this iteration of the teams story. If you're squeamish about harming fictional animals, do not watch the trailer..
However if you’re NOT willing to wait that long, you can get a taster of what’s to come in the form of James Gunn’s Spotify playlist. Only a James Gunn playlist would have the audacity combine with Radiohead’s “Creep (Acoustic)” and dive headfirst into Heart’s “Crazy On You.” This time it looks like we’re getting a healthy mix of older and newer jams, as seen with the inclusion of 2002’s Flaming Lips “Do You Realize??”.
Either way if the soundtrack is anything to go by, the movie is going to be an emotional rollercoaster…
